Leave requests that arrive before you build the week, not after
Most leave software is a separate inbox you forget to check. CySlip puts requests on the grid you are already looking at, so you plan around them instead of undoing work.
The request arrives after the rota is out
Now you are rebuilding a published week and telling two other people their shifts changed. It was in a text message you read on a Tuesday.
Nobody knows their balance
Not the employee, and not you without opening a spreadsheet. So it gets asked, and answered, and asked again.
A swap is three conversations
One person to drop it, one to pick it up, and you to confirm. All of it in a chat thread nobody can search later.
Requests and cover, on the schedule itself
Approve leave from an empty cell. See floating day-off requests before you approve them, so the week is built around what people have actually asked for. When someone drops a shift, it goes to the open pool and a colleague claims it, with your approval.

Questions
Can employees request leave themselves?
Yes. They request from their own view, you approve or decline, and both of you keep a record. A manager can also add approved leave directly.
What happens to shifts when leave is approved?
The employee's shifts for those days are released, so they can be covered rather than silently left assigned to someone who is away.
Is annual leave entitlement tracked?
Yes, per employee, with an account-wide default you can override for individuals.
